Education

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering

National Institute of Technology Durgapur | Sep 2016 to Apr 2023

Thesis: Enhancement of Available Transfer Capability for Integrated Power System Incorporating UPFC and Renewable Energy Sources

Shodhganga: hdl.handle.net/10603/631435

Supervisor: Prof. Subrata Banerjee | Co-Supervisor: Prof. Provas Kumar Roy

  • Reviewed the literature on ATC, OPF, FACTS (UPFC) and renewable energy sources (RESs) and identified the research scope.
  • Developed two hybrid meta-heuristic algorithms: Opposition Selfish Herd Optimizer (OSHO) and Chaotic Mayflies Algorithm (CMA) to optimise ATC and/or active power generation cost.
  • Integrated UPFC into the power system optimisation framework to raise ATC without new transmission line construction.
  • Implemented 24-hour RES-thermal scheduling with solar, wind and hydro units alongside thermal units for multi-objective optimisation of cost and ATC.
  • Validated the algorithms on IEEE 24-bus, 30-bus and 118-bus test systems with all equality and inequality constraints satisfied.

Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Electrical Engineering

National Institute of Technology Durgapur | Jul 2011 to May 2013 | CGPA: 8.21/10

Thesis: Analysis, Design, Modelling and Control of DC-DC Converters

Supervisor: Prof. Subrata Banerjee

  • Applied State Space Averaging (SSA) to derive DC-DC converter transfer functions in CCM and DCM.
  • Designed and fabricated a 45 kHz closed-loop Buck converter for DSP/FPGA supply with a purpose-designed LC filter.
  • Implemented and compared closed-loop control strategies in MATLAB/Simulink.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering

Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur (WBUT) | Jul 2010 | CGPA: 7.94/10

Project: Short-term Hydro-thermal Scheduling Based on Fast EP Method. Programmed the classical method and the fast EP method in MATLAB 7.5 and compared the results.

Training: 30-day vocational training at Durgapur Thermal Power Station (DTPS), Unit 4, DVC (2009). Overview of thermal power generation, distribution and generation-side problems.
